Shawn Day

Committee Member

Shawn works in senior roles in city administrations and consultancy, where he has extensive experience in leading and delivering projects to revitalise and renew economic precincts and places in capital and regional cities.

He is driven to understand how city economies work and harness that knowledge to make a positive difference in the world. This led Shawn into urban economics and urban planning and to chart a career in building city economies and shaping city growth as an economist-planner.

Recognising that cities are complex eco-systems, Shawn is skilled in:

  • Leading and delivering strategic renewal in inner city and suburban contexts
  • Proving feasibilities and business cases of urban-, transport- and infrastructure-related projects
  • Developing and implementing transformation through smart city strategy

and has applied these skills in his leadership roles in local governments (Brisbane, Sydney and Newcastle).

Shawn holds a Master of Town and Regional Planning, Bachelor of Arts and is a Fellow of the Institute of Managers and Leaders Australia & New Zealand.
