Strong, confident and vibrant regions: A new charter for RDA

The Minister for Regional Development, Senator the Hon Fiona Nash, recently announced that funding for the Regional Development Australia (RDA) network will be extended through to December 2020 under a new, more action-oriented charter.

The charter requires that RDAs move beyond a planning role to an active and facilitative role with a clear focus on growing strong and confident regional economies that harness their competitive advantages, seize on economic opportunity and attract investment.

RDA Brisbane welcomes this new focus as we have always been an action-oriented organisation working in partnership with and collaboratively across the three levels of government, business, industry and communities to drive and facilitate economic development, and this new focus will build on these efforts.

RDA Brisbane’s CEO, Margaret Blade, was selected to be part of an 11-member national working group, representing the major capital city RDAs and co-representing Queensland, that is developing a new reporting framework and performance indicators to ensure that the outcomes of RDA activities are aligned with the charter and can be properly monitored and measured.
