Queensland’s investment pipeline represents a significant opportunity not only for Brisbane, but for businesses, workers and communities across the state.
The Queensland Construction Portal (QCP), launched in September 2026 and led by Brisbane Economic Development Agency (BEDA), the Better Brisbane Alliance and Property Council of Australia, brings together public and private sector projects valued at $50 million or more, alongside information about expected workforce, skills and materials demand.
Under the theme “Building Queensland’s Future: Pipeline, People and Project Delivery”, the Portal provides an important new evidence base for understanding the scale and location of Queensland’s construction activity.
And the scale is significant.
Queensland has 617 major projects under construction or in planning, worth $173.76 billion between FY2025-26 and FY2029-30. Regional Queensland alone accounts for 351 projects valued at $114.96 billion.
For RDA Brisbane, these figures reinforce an important message: businesses across Queensland have an opportunity to become procurement-ready now and participate in the state’s growing construction pipeline.
Brisbane 2032 will be a powerful catalyst for investment and a defining opportunity for the state. At the same time, the Portal highlights the breadth of work already taking shape across regional Queensland—from civil infrastructure and community projects to mining and resources—creating opportunities for local businesses, workers and communities well beyond the Games.
This highlights the opportunity for businesses across metropolitan and regional Queensland to build capability, prepare for procurement and position themselves within major-project supply chains.
Building Queensland’s future will require more than a strong pipeline. It will require the people, capability and businesses ready to deliver it.
RDA Brisbane thanks Dr John Cowie, BEDA Head Economist and General Manager of Investment, for recently taking the time to step us through the Queensland Construction Portal and the opportunities it presents.
