RDA Brisbane's CLICK! Digital Expo 2014 shines the spotlight on businesses' digital future
The power and potential of the burgeoning digital economy was spectacularly showcased at RDA Brisbane's CLICK! Digital Expo 2014, with more 1200 businesses and not-for-profits flocking to Brisbane City Hall on March 13-14.
The free event, which aims to get Brisbane enterprises on the front foot in the digital age and improve their competitiveness, was the second staged by RDA Brisbane, with attendance more than doubling from the inaugural CLICK! expo held in 2012.
This year's event was held in partnership with the Business Success Group and Digital Brisbane, and featured exhibits from more than 40 leading providers of digital products and services, plus 36 half-hour seminar sessions, tiered for beginner, intermediate and advanced knowledge levels, from digital and industry experts.
Attendees could choose from a diverse range of topics, including the cloud, digital accounting and invoicing, social media, SEO, making the most of their website, the mobility revolution, planning a digital strategy, brand protection in the digital age, making money from inventions and new trends such as 'gamification'.
There were also two special in-depth CLICK! 'Masterclasses' – one on human bionics, a potential growth industry for SEQ, and another session on demystifying the cloud from some of Australia's cloud pioneers.
Some expo exhibits featured dazzling new technologies in action, including crowd favourite the 3D printer demonstrated by QMI Solutions and Griffith University, and the thru glass touch sensor, shown in Australia for the first time by Deep Creek Digital from the Sunshine Coast Innovation Centre.
Special guest speakers at the opening formalities included the Lord Mayor Graham Quirk, The Hon Teresa Gambaro MP, Member for Brisbane, and The Hon Ian Walker, Minister for Science, Information Technology, Innovation and the Arts. There was also a keynote address – "Unprecedented change... equals opportunity" - from Chris Ridd, Managing Director of Xero Australia.
Event sponsors were Entegy (who provided the CLICK! event app), Vend, Xero, R&G Technologies and Klyp, with marketing support from CCIQ, Brisbane Marketing and the Queensland Government.
CLICK! Digital Expo has been named as a key event for the city in the Digital Brisbane Strategy, helping to create a stronger, more competitive local economy by empowering local businesses to harness digital technologies.
